Verdict
ENGULF may not be long for racing if he can't win this maiden with the minimum of fuss as his form is head and shoulders above that achieved by some modest rivals. The handicapper gives him upwards of 20lb in hand of those rivals with official ratings and those without marks haven't done enough to suggest that they're going to cause too many headaches. Any softening of the ground would be an imponderable as the son of Danehill Dancer has never raced on ground worse than good whilst he clearly has his quirks as he's hung quite badly in the past and his riders have, on occasion, avoided recourse to the whip but he should be able to win this without coming off the bridle. Mata Hari Blue should be thereabouts again but of more interest, at least for the future, is Buachaill Dona's half-brother Premier Contender.
