It’s difficult to oppose ENABLE despite the calibre of today’s opposition. A wide-margin winner of four consecutive Group 1 races, John Gosden’s filly is clearly the one to beat. Winner of the Juddmonte International at York, Ulysses was over four lengths behind the selection in the King George at Ascot earlier with Idaho further back in third. The latter is one of five Ballydoyle representatives with Ryan Moore preferring prolific Group 1 winner Winter, who landed the Nassau over 1m2f at Goodwood, over Irish Derby and Doncaster’s St Leger hero Capri and Irish St Leger winner Order Of St George. Zarak beat Silverwave to land the Grand Prix Saint-Cloud but had earlier fallen victim to Cloth Of Stars, who in turn was beaten by the German challenger Dschingis Secret in the Prix Foy here. Japan’s Satono Diamond disappointed in the Foy while French Derby winner Brametot ran no sort of race last time but this longer trip should suit and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back with a big run in this.
