        Verdict

        GLOBAL CONQUEROR landed the odds in a maiden at Leicester last month but was narrowly beaten in a higher grade handicap than this at Haydock earlier and Simon Crisford’s colt gets the nod on that form. Monadee had wind surgery over the winter and ran well at Doncaster on his reappearance. He looks a danger stepping up in trip today and Roger Varian’s yard has hit top form. Pheidippides wasn’t far away when only fourth at Wolverhampton last time and remains unexposed while Surfa Rosa was beaten less than a length at Kempton before struggling at Newmarket.
