      Verdict

HOME CITY (NAP) has already had four chances but has been unfortunate not to open his account by now and sets a demanding standard. He ran a fair race at Royal Ascot before being touched off at Yarmouth and was then demoted by the Newbury stewards after initially prevailing in a decent novice contest. His form and experience make him the one to beat. Harb shaped with promise at Goodwood and seems a surefire improver for Mark Johnston. He may well emerge as the main threat, whilst My Little Tip has shown ability without suggesting he's quite good enough to land this. Definitive Force is most appealing of three interesting newcomers.

Home City (IRE) 10-3fav (9-0) Made all, drifted left under pressure inside final furlong, stayed on and always just doing enough, disqualified and placed 2nd, won at Newbury 6f stks (5) gf in Jul beating Tropez Power (9-0) by nk, 17 ran.
