In depth

None of these two-year-olds have raced over this far but Sophar Sogood should last home on the evidence of a winning handicap debut over a mile at Southwell. Souter Johnnie is fitted with headgear after returning a winning favourite over the same distance at Kempton and both of the above have 6lb more to carry today. Moorland Spirit will need to step up on her fourth at Kempton and a chance is taken on GOOD REASON. The latter’s best effort so far came in soft going over a mile at Doncaster and the Godolphin filly is expected to improve now handicapping with Webuyanyhorse perhaps best of the rest.

Webuyanyhorse 8-1 (9-5) Led over 7f out, soon headed, stayed handy, no extra inside final furlong, 6th of 10, 5 1/4l behind Oslo (9-7) at Chelmsford City 1m (5) pol in Sep.

Souter Johnnie (IRE) 3-1fav (9-5) Slowly into stride, towards rear, headway on outside under pressure and hung right over 2f out, chased leader inside final furlong, stayed on to lead final 125 yards, won at Kempton 1m (6) pol in Oct beating Utopian Lad (9-5) by 1 1/4l, 13 ran.

Forus 14-1 (9-1) Tracked leader until pushed along over 3f out, weakened 2f out, 6th of 7, 22 1/2l behind Bermuda Schwartz (9-6) at Southwell 1m (5) pol in Oct.

Moorland Spirit (IRE) 9-1 (9-6) Mid-division on inside, driven to chase leaders over 2f out, soon ridden, stayed on to dispute 3rd inside final furlong, no impression with front pair, 4th of 12, 3 1/4l behind Inflamed (8-11) at Kempton 1m (6) pol in Sep.

Selsey Sizzler 33-1 (9-5) Awkward just after start and behind, ridden over 4f out, well behind final 3f, 9th of 10, 19 1/4l behind Khalifa Sat (9-5) at Goodwood 1m 2f mdn stks (2) sft in Sep.
