Verdict
A very tricky start for punters with more than a third of this field having travelled over from Ireland. ELLAAT was disappointing when last seen over hurdles at Hexham in the spring but he’s been running well on the Flat over the summer and Philip Byrnes is a very experienced conditional. Ballyadam Destiny beat a big field at Galway less than two weeks ago and Sweet Will won at Fairyhouse on Tuesday, though has to carry a penalty. Dont Doubt Me was also a winner last time, at Gowran, while Enki Flacke chases a four-timer and Alvaro is worth a second look. Of the home team, Ben Pauling has claims with both Hardy Boy and the returning Fine Casting and Fergal O’Brien saddles Oscar Thyne and Hurricane Harvey. The latter is certainly handicapped to go close but may have developed a mind of his own. Hector Javilex may be the pick of the remainder ahead of Ashington and the luckless Cluain Aodha.
