In depth

Verdict

Coach Lane ran promisingly on his reappearance at Folkestone last month and has to be respected, especially given the form of runners from the yard of Venetia Williams, but the in-form Alfadora has every chance of defying his latest penalty and gets the vote ahead of the consistent Junctiontwentyfour. The last mentioned has done little wrong this term but may be a shade high in the weights at present so may be best watched. David Pipe's Milord Lescribaa has every chance on the pick of his form but may struggle to give weight away all round, while Alphabetical got no further than the first fence last time and it is impossible to know how that may have effected him. Arthur Moore's Mon Oiseau and Peter Bowen's Megaton are others worthy of a mention but preference is for Alfadora. The selection has been in fine form of late and, while gradually climbing up the weights, still looks ahead of the handicapper and he is taken to win again.
