      Verdict

A decent handicap hurdle with five last time out winners in the line up including Sporazene, Visibility, Altay and Caracciola but the one they all have to beat is Hasty Prince who could not have been more impressive than when winning the Tote Silver Trophy at Chepstow last time. The second season hurdler lead on the bit two out that day and won with any amount in hand, value for more than the five-length winning margin. A 6lb penalty may not be enough to prevent Jonjo O'Neill's gelding from following up. Nicky Henderson's Caracciola did not progress as much as expected last term but returned to winning ways on his reappearance at Sandown last week. The six-year-old has just a 3lb penalty to carry for that success and has to be respected, as does Sporazene, who looks the pick of the Paul Nicholls- trained runners. The Ditcheat handler also saddles Rigmarole, who now appears to be in the grip of the handicapper. Sporazene has his first run in handicap-company today, having beaten reliable yardstick Spectroscope in the four-year-old hurdle at the Punchestown Festival when last seen in May. Martin Pipe's runners at this meeting always warrant respect and Tony McCoy opts to partner recent Ascot winner Visibility rather than Gone Far. Altay will find this tough on his first start since winning a handicap at Haydock in May and a bigger threat may come from the Philip Hobbs-trained Shalako, who has a light weight but Hasty Prince has an obvious chance and gets the vote.
