Verdict

Saint Calvados missed an enagement here yesterday having won over track and trip before that but has a bit to find at the weights as does the veteran Simply Ned. Defi Du Seuil landed a couple of Grade 1 novice chases over 2m4f last season when successful at this venue and at Sandown earlier but found one too good dropped back to 2m for the Ryanair at Punchestown in May and POLITOLOGUE is preferred. The latter gave Altior a scare when runner-up in last season’s Champion Chase over course and distance and with the possibility of further progress this year having undergone wind surgery during the summer, Paul Nicholls’ charge may prove the one to side with in this.
