In depth

Verdict

A competitive handicap chase with many in with a chance including Baloo, Muttley Maguire and Special Conquest with the vote going the last named. Special Conquest seems to have grown up this year and has already landed himself in the winners enclosure at Southwell on his penultimate start. He looked to come up against a smart horse in Moscow Whisper last time out at Exeter and if improving on that run he will take the beating. Baloo managed to get his head in front last time out and looked convincing in doing so. His stable have few runners at this track so any market support should be noted. Muttley Maguire has been a model of consistency and broke his maiden tag at Worcester back in May. He looks a promising prospect but a lack of a run on rain softened ground is a concern so for the winner we return to Special Conquest.
