Verdict

Ohio Gold, runner-up to Ballabriggs at Wincanton in January, performed with credit subsequently in Grade 1 and 2 company at Cheltenham and looks a nice prospect. His stable have yet to strike form, however, unlike those of Paul Nicholls and Philip Hobbs. The former is represented by Merrion Square, who comfortably won his only start between the flags, while NUTIN FANCY represents Hobbs and he also won an Irish point before landing a bumper at Downpatrick. The latter just gets the vote though there are numerous dangers including dual winning point-to-pointer Knock A Hand and the four-year-old Albert Stroller, a newcomer from the Nigel Twiston-Davies yard that can do no wrong at present.
