Verdict
A wide open contest with many in form rivals in opposition, including Iverain, Take The Stand, Waterberg and Wagner, and the vote goes to the latter. Our selection has looked a novice to follow so far, but made an uncharacteristic mistake when falling at Stratford last time. But he is sure to have been well schooled since, and he looks to be on a fair mark for his handicap debut. Iverain rates the main danger. He was a good second behind Shardam last time out under similar conditions, but his best form to date has come with more cut in the ground. Take The Stand is also worthy of consideration based on his second behind Flying Instructor last time, weakening two out. The step up in trip is not sure to suit. Waterberg has been in good form but he ran as if the handicapper had just caught up with him when second behind Three Eagles, who has since let the form down at Bangor last time. Wagner was also a disappointment last time, but can get back to winning ways here.
