    In depth

John Gosden has a fine chance of taking the first division and his newcomer GREAT SOUND, a 320,000gns son of Galileo out of a mare who has produced winners with her first three foals, looks to have been found an opportunity to make a successful debut here. Henry Croft was trained by Gosden last season and ran well in a couple of maidens but has only run moderately on the all-weather for new connections. Lexington Law looks to have been bought with hurdling in mind while Sheila's Fancy will need to step up on his run at Lingfield in March. Cold Shoulder is another newcomer to note being a full brother to a Grade 1 winner in Australia and related to several more winners.

Henry Croft 25-1 (10-0) Held up in mid-division, ridden on inside over 2f out, soon hung right, plugged on into modest 3rd inside final furlong, 3rd of 10, 12 1/4l behind Peaceful Passage (8-2) at Kempton 1m 4f mdn stks (5) pol in Feb.

Lexington Law (IRE) 11-4 (9-9) Prominent, ridden over 3f out, pressing leader and trying to force way through against inside rail when hampered 2 out, no extra inside final furlong, lost 3rd towards finish, 4th of 7, 7 1/2l behind Monjeni (8-11) at Haydock 1m 6f hcp (4) gf in May.
