Verdict

Despite the size of the field this should not take a great deal of winning and it is hard to oppose Manners, who gets the vote ahead of Sonnengold and Kayceecee. The last mentioned won a Warwick handicap off mark of 99 in January but has failed to trouble the judge in two starts since then and needs to improve to trouble the selection. Arc Of Stone is unexposed but is hard to back with confidence on the evidence of two previous runs, while Templer looks to be one of the lesser lights in the yard of Phillip Hobbs. Jobsworth could be of interest on his hurdling debut judged by some fair efforts in bumpers although a bigger threat is likely to come from Sonnengold, who won well at Lingfield two starts ago before disappointing last time; however, Lucy Wadham's mare may want a softer surface to show her best form. The vote though has to go to Manners. Jonjo O'Neill's gelding has run to a much higher standard than any of his rivals and a reproduction of recent form should more than suffice.
