It's highly significant that Rebecca Curtis starts off DEFINITE OUTCOME in this grade over hurdles. Already successful in a point-to-point and a bumper, he's held in high regard and may have too much class for these. Emerging Talent has plenty of ability but has become very expensive to follow while Roadie Joe will need to improve again if he is to complete a four-timer under Rules. Cardinal Palace was well beaten in a Grade 3 at Tipperary last time while it's hard to make a case for the mare Samedi Soir or Gallic Destiny at this level.
Cardinal Palace (IRE) 10-1 (11-1) Held up in rear, some progress entering straight and went 3rd after 2 out, no impression on principals before last, kept on one pace, 3rd of 6, 19 1/2l behind Bachasson (11-4) at Tipperary 2m (1) gd in Oct.
Gallic Destiny (IRE) 20-1 (10-8) Tracked leader, led when not fluent 7th, pressed last, driven and drifted slightly left flat, stayed on well, won at Fontwell 2m 3f (4) gd in Jun beating Gioia Di Vita (11-5) by 1 3/4l, 14 ran.
Roadie Joe (IRE) 9-4fav (11-5) Always prominent, led after 3 out, not fluent last, driven and stayed on well flat, won at Warwick 2m (4) gd in Sep beating A Little Magic (10-12) by 1 1/4l, 9 ran.
Definite Outcome (IRE) 2-1fav (11-4) Led after 1f, clear when edged left inside final furlong, stayed on well, won at Uttoxeter 2m (5) sft in Mar beating Coeur Blimey (10-10) by 9l, 6 ran.
Emerging Talent (IRE) 4-5fav (11-3) Tracked leaders, challenged 3 out, ridden after 2 out, not fluent last, no impression on winner flat, 2nd of 6, 4 1/2l behind Native River (11-11) at Exeter 2m 1f lst (1) gs in Feb.
Samedi Soir 9-4fav (10-12) Made all, mistake 5th, drew clear on bit between last 2, unchallenged, eased flat, won at Hexham 2m 4f (4) gd in Sep beating Number One London (11-5) by 37l, 7 ran.
