In depth
Verdict
Far from the most endearing of betting mediums but an obvious opportunity for Gallant Boy to continue the winning thread with Nina Fontenail and Cunning Pursuit likely to rate as dangers. David Evans' charge has been in rude health of late with two recent successes at Epsom and Warwick. The horse is with a trainer who isn't afraid to run his horses often and he has a fair rider booked tonight for the job. Nina Fontenail has to be respected with Simon Walker booked. A graduate from banded stakes company, she is running well although there have to be a few minor questions about her ability to handle the prevailing fast ground. Cunning Pursuit had bits and pieces of form when with Michael Bell. He should be staying on when others have cried enough having being tried already at distances up to two miles on the level. Twentytwosilver put up a credible effort in a claimer at Leicester. He would have chances if reproducing that but many trainers have found him difficult to coerse into winning races. French Mannequin won a very bad claimer at Wolverhampton and Paul Blockley signed the docket to the tune of ¿5000. Words cannot describe how slowly they finished on that day. Caliban has the services of Serena Brotherton tonight and the horse, although quirky, did consent to win a recent National Hunt race at Uttoxeter. Mr Belvedere looks of interest at bigger prices. He was rated in the 70's when with Richard Hannon and has gone well for lady riders in the past. They'll be better races than this this season but Gallant Boy looks difficult to oppose in his current form.
