In depth

Verdict

Celticello, a winner on soft ground over course and distance in May can land his second course victory but should the weekend rain arrive at the Welsh venue, his chances would be enhanced. Two outings since have seen him disappoint particularly last time where after being held up he could never make inroads on the leaders. Friends Hope is back to his optimum trip having failed to stay 12 furlongs in recent months. He is creeping up the weights though but if ground conditions remain quick that will suit. Adorabella was strongly backed to land a Bath contest on her return following a long lay-off. She raced keenly throughout that event, probably owing to freshness but even taking that into account it was a disappointing performance given the confidence behind her. Davenport is another that has posted some shockers of late and is on a retrieving mission but Celticello is the nomination.
