Verdict

AMERICAN LADIE should finally gain a long overdue win in this. Alan King's mare has been performing with credit in much better company than today's, including when runner-up to the smart Sparky May on her hurdling debut. Sara's Smile has been placed in three of her six starts over timber and, though probably better over further, looks the one for forecast-backers as Verde Goodwood has been well beaten in both runs over hurdles and is yet to fulfil the promise she showed in bumpers. Bow To No One has won three times on the Flat but may need the experience here, though is still preferred to the others.
