In depth

Verdict

Hold The Gold, Eastern Gift and Bellomi look the three to concentrate on in this maiden and the vote is given to Bellomi. The selection has been second on both his starts to date but he was only just touched off by Vives Les Rouges last time out. He looks sure to be suited by the step up in trip and as he is less exposed than his main rivals he looks the one to be on. Hold The Gold rates the main danger on his latest second behind Cosmic Art. He is versatile as regards ground and with his yard in form he will not be far away. Eastern Gift has the same BHB rating of 86 as Hold The Gold but he was slightly disappointing when well backed last time, but he could manage only second behind Newly Elected. He is more exposed than the selection and is opposable on that basis. Of the remainder, Crystal Rock hails from a yard that has a good record at the track and could go well from stall 2 but his latest second behind Lytton leaves him with a little to find with the principals and the unexposed Bellomi is our idea of the winner.
