Verdict
This a good test for these juveniles and it looks set to be a fast and furious affair - with Signor Panettiere edging a narrow vote over Farewell To Arms, Caldy Dancer. The Richard Hannon-trained colt, a half-brother to winners from the family of Night Flight, should be ideally suited to the demands of Chester racecourse and his blistering early speed will make him very hard to catch today. Farewell To Arms, who was unlucky when finishing runner up in the Brocklesby, is also going the right way and would be a serious threat to the selection if he did not have the worst of the draw to contend with, whereas Who¿s Winning, a 23,000 gns purchase as a yearling, has a little to prove with the speedy types on the inside rails. He got off the mark in fine style at Folkestone and should also continue to progress as the season goes on. Caldy Dancer has already repaid his $7,500 purchase fee after his winning debut, but faces a much stiffer test today.
