Escape Route continually shaped as one that would relish a step up in trip and that was confirmed when he tackled the 10 furlongs for the first time at Great Leighs recently. Although beating only a small field, he was going away in the finish while the form was not let down at Newmarket during the week when the third Rayhani ran respectably in a competitive handicap. John Gosdens' charge gets the vote. Prince Forever rates the biggest danger on the basis of his juvenile form. Well touted throughout the winter for the Lincoln, an easy surface possibly contributed to his undoing there and last time where he never got involved. The handicapper has shown him some leniency but he will need to show some more spark. Bahar Shumaal is far more exposed than most and is well held by Escape Route on their Goodwood clash last season. However, this track does suit front runners and he could go well at a price. Prominent tactics saw him run respectably in the Rosebery Stakes on his seasonal debut. Ryan Moore is an eye catching booking for last years winner Temple Place who has been lightly campaigned of late but it would be considered a surprise if he were to repeat the dose here. Escape Route is selected to land the opener.
