Verdict

Ian Williams trains six of the entries in this Chester Cup consolation. Baydar hasn’t sparkled so far this season but gets his favoured ground for the first time and isn’t badly treated with Sean Davis good value for his 5lb claim. This was run for the first time last year and won by a four-year-old and Diocletian is the only one of that age group this year. He was too keen last time and will enjoy conditions but stamina is a slight concern. Tony Martin’s raider Drakensberg may not cope with the ground but Addicted To You stays well so can’t be ignored and Master Archer is 2-2 around here. COEUR DE LION was beaten only a neck last year racing off the same mark. He ran a nice prep race at Newbury and looks poised to go one better, though Never Surrender still has scope over this trip and could be interesting.
