Verdict
Toledo Gold has solid claims on the evidence of his latest start when chasing home Olympic Dream at Newcastle last month but Eric Alston's colt has been done few favours with the draw being berthed in stall nine of the nine runners and a better option looks to be KAMMAAN, who gets the vote with Al Mugtareb rated the best of the rest. The selection has shown improved form in maidens of late for Michael Jarvis, running out a good winner of a Newcastle maiden last time, and he looks reasonably well treated on his handicap debut off a mark of 78 with the bonus of the best of the draw. Doc Jones won his maiden at Thirsk well enough two starts ago but the David Evans-trained gelding disappointed at Kempton subsequently and now looks best watched. Course winner Rio Cobolo looks the pick of Paul Green's two runners ahead of Lucky Dan and he cannot be discounted off just a 3lb higher mark than when scoring here last month. Mark Johnston's Al Mugtareb is well berthed and has claims on the pick of his form but that has been over six furlongs and he has yet to prove that he stays this far. This is a sharp seven though so he has to be considered but preference is for Kammaan, who is taken to make a winning start in a handicap and make the most of his draw in stall one.
