      Verdict

      This is tougher than the race Gravistas won at Newmarket a week ago and he’s yet to encounter testing ground. The same comment applies to Durston, who scored over 1m6f at Doncaster on his handicap bow while Prefontaine was narrowly beaten over the same trip on fast going at Sandown. A winner over a mile last year, Waldstern steps up in trip for his reappearance and first time handicapping but LARIAT is preferred on an earlier second over track and trip. It was soft ground on that occasion and, given he ran into trouble, Andrew Balding’s colt gets another chance with normal luck in-running. Gabrial The One finished well behind the selection here though returned to the track with a victory on faster going last time.
