Verdict

A tricky opener but PERSIAN GAYLE should give punters a good run. James Cousins' charge progressed with every run in bumpers and looked a nice prospect for hurdling when an excellent runner-up to Bootlegger in a huge field at Cork. Cahercailin didn't show much last year but has obviously progressed during the winter as she ran very well behind First Beauty at Limerick last month, her first start since November. Nodouraboura attracted support for a Roscommon bumper last month and duly obliged though a penalty makes life more difficult while An Fear Aitiuil has only raced on heavy ground over the minimum trip so it remains to be seen how he handles today's conditions. Millrock Lady has had a break since a fine run behind Jim Bowie at Gowran in March while the consistent John The Soldier appears likely to get competitive after his best run to date behind Garlic Hill over the C&D last time.
