Verdict

WESTERNER POINT won this a year ago, one of a dozen victories in 37 starts, and though 9lb higher is still 20lb lower than his chase mark. Bothar Dubh has won over shorter around here but stays the trip well as he showed when scoring at Listowel last September. He had the favourite Impatient Partner plus Mon Lino and Sassy Yet Classy well beaten when runner-up over 2m5f at Galway and should confirm the form. Desire De Joie landed a maiden over this trip at Sligo and looks on a very fair mark for his handicap debut but Sweet Sting went up 11lb after completing a double over the trip at Tipperary and couldn't quite cope here on his hat-trick bid. Benkei had a couple of runs on the Flat before a fair effort in a Grade B handicap at Down Royal.
