In depth

Verdict

BRUTAL won a Leopardstown maiden as a two-year-old but didn’t quite cut the mustard in pattern race company later. He’s joined Gordon Elliott now, however, and could carve a career for himself over hurdles. Grey Waters has been paced three times up to 1m4f on the level. He hasn’t won so far but looks the pick of Joseph O’Brien’s two runners in this, ahead of Richard Strauss. Vanderbilt is probably flattered by a mark of 73 on the Flat as he’s shown very little this year.
