    Verdict

AL RIFFA (NAP) ended a short first campaign with a brilliant victory in the Group 1 National Stakes here. Runner-up Proud And Regal subsequently won a Group 1 in France so Joseph O'Brien's colt can make a successful return to action. Alfred Munnings is something of an unknown having easily landed a Leopardstown maiden before a moderate run in the Chesham just over a year ago. Layfayette was dropping down in class when landing a Limerick Listed contest while Mashhoor declared himself better than a handicapper by landing a Listed contest here in May. Self Belief has won around here and his two runs in the spring were on heavy ground which didn't suit.
