In depth

Verdict

Burn The Boats was having his first start for new connections when an excellent third at Dundalk on Wednesday after landing two claimers. It was a year ago when The Mouse Doctor last won and he's been so consistent subsequently that he remains on a high mark. ESCONDIDA showed potential as a two-year-old but only ran twice when very highly tried in 2015. He reappeared after a 15-month absence to beat a big field of maidens at Leopardstown in October so the lack of a recent run isn't a problem and he can go in again. His stable also run Heavy Weight, four times an all-weather winner but yet to score on Turf, while Not A Whisper won a Tipperary handicap on soft ground and may find the going a bit lively.
