In depth

Verdict

Hector De Maris couldn't get close enough to Liffey River at Punchestown to mount a challenge and Seamie Heffernan deserts him for the newcomer Santa Barbara, a half-sister to Group 1 winner Iridessa and three other winners. Belmont Avenue just failed to peg back Malaysian at Cork, with Always Waitin staying on strongly into third, and the winner is trained by Jessica Harrington, who has MY MINERVINA engaged here. The latter made a very encouraging start on testing ground at Bellewstown and can go one better. Snap Chap makes a quick reappearance after last week's eye-catching run at Gowran while Kailash is amongst several dangers after getting no sort of run at Naas.
