In depth
Verdict
Gordon Lord Byron has managed to win four times here and won't mind the conditions though he's on a very long losing run. He was conceding 4lb to GUSTAVUS WESTON when beaten almost 3l over the track and trip on soft ground in August and the latter has much more scope. Beckford, who started favourite but could only finish fourth, had earlier been beaten one-and-a-half-lengths behind Speak In Colours in a Listed race here and looks held. David O'Meara has a fair strike-rate with his raiders and Pontefract Listed winner Perfection has to be considered.
