VIENNE landed a heavy-ground maiden at Compiegne in October and was a short price for her reappearance over this trip at Saint-Cloud but couldn't cope with Irska, who was race-fit having made a successful debut in March. Dawn Intello, who made a winning start on the all-weather here in November, was probably in need of his comeback at Saint-Cloud and is expected to do much better. Episodia, a debut winner at Fontainebleau, ran in a Listed race at Toulouse next time and wasn't disgraced but Salesman has been extremely disappointing having been a beaten favourite in all four starts.
