    Verdict

BANNY’S LAD (NAP) left previous chase form well behind when sauntering to victory on heavy going at Sedgefield. If he handles this quicker surface, a penalty is unlikely to prevent a follow-up as he has Harry Bannister’s claim in his favour. Groomed appears to have gone off the boil but Premier Grand Cru won off a 10lb higher mark over course and distance in 2014 and has been placed in all three starts this campaign, though well beaten. Tiquer has only won on soft going at Uttoxeter so far but he was third off his new mark at Exeter on New Year’s Day.
