Verdict

EXCELEBRATION is the horse to side with here after a promising debut at Nottingham; Belgian Bill and Finnker may be the main dangers. Marco Botti's Exceed And Excel colt was well-touted before his debut last month and he shaped fairly well behind Planet Waves. Although the third home has been beaten, the fifth-placed horse has since obliged in a hot little race and so hopes are high for today. Midnight Rider needs a market check on his debut, as does the George Baker-trained Belgian Bill. Silken Thoughts and Annalika were both well-held on their debuts but both were in stronger maidens than this one, whilst Henry Chettle is bred to be more effective with a bit of time. Finnker is of more interest; his sire Kodiac has already had some speedy newcomers and a bold bid would come as no surprise. Il Battista cannot be ignored either, however this should go to the experience of Excelebration.
