In depth

Verdict

Soft going can be a real leveller but a few of these look to be swimming a little out of their depth. BRANDYBEND (NAP) has only won a maiden so far but is probably the one beat on her latest third in this grade at Newmarket, where she had to be switched inside the final furlong but was still only beaten a length-and-a-half. She has nothing to fear from Blue Waltz on that run. Polar Eyes will love the ground and ran well in a Listed race at Saint-Cloud after winning a handicap at Haydock. Volunteer Point beat Imshivalla over a mile at Newmarket but the extra yardage here is a step into the unknown. Lahayeb has a good strike rate but needs to improve again to figure in a race like this and similar comments apply to Bella Nouf while Empress Ali has had a busy end to the campaign. Pandora has been highly tried since winning her maiden here in the spring but looks held by the selection on Ascot running in June.
