In depth

Verdict

A very interesting finale that is boosted by the presence of Giants Causeway's full brother Tiger Dance, who is given a tentative nomination over Elliots World and Rob Roy, who is on a retrieval mission after his very disappointing effort in the 2,000 Guineas. In The Fan also caught they eye with a handful of useful efforts as a juvenile and it will be dangerous to rule him out too quickly. A careful monitoring of the betting is recommended where he is concerned. Rob Roy had the loftiest of reputations at the start of the season, but they were blown right out of the water when he failed to beat a horse home in the Guineas. His trainer has reported that he has suffered from sore shins and a bout of lameness. But is now obviously back on the right track. Sir Michael Stoute is always a dangerous man to oppose but his charge does have plenty to prove today. Elliots World is a game and consistent performer that has strung together a series of good efforts. However, he has been very hard to win with and, as he is now fully exposed, he looks vulnerable to an improver. Which is exactly what he will face in the shape of Tiger Dance, who will have the eyes of the breeding industry clocking his every move this afternoon. Aidan O'Brien has been very patient with this son of Storm Cat, who has been very slow to come to hand this term. Tiger Dance got off the mark without breaking sweat on his only start to date and looks a very interesting type for the back-end of the season. The Queen Elizabeth, Champion and Diadem Stakes are possible targets if all goes to plan for Tiger Dance today.
