Verdict

As ever a minefield for punters with most of the field still open to plenty of improvement and narrow preference is for BLAZING BUCK ahead of Bright Enough and Needwood Lad. The selection steps up in class today after winning just an ordinary maiden at Warwick. He has shown an ability to act on soft ground and with the form of his second run behind Athania (easy winner since) looking solid, he could go well at a fair price. Lucky Redback has more experience than most which will stand him in good stead, however it is not hard to see something improving past him especially with quicker ground more suitable. Satwa Laird was impressive last time and the step up in trip should pose no problems, whilst Needwood Lad could be well-drawn and has shown the necessary ability to win a race of this nature. Amethyst Dawn and Cook's Endeavour join Beautiful Breeze in a strong Yorkshire challenge, however recent renewals have gone down South and so Mister Dee Bee, Advertise and Ballantrae merit respect. High Alert is keen enough over this trip and may not quite last home like last time. A very difficult start to the Leger Festival and we will tentatively side with Blazing Buck.
