In depth

Verdict

Some smart individuals have won this race in the past and this year's renewal looks up to standard with some promising and well-bred types in opposition. Not least of which is Maghanim who was a highly encouraging runner-up behind a well regarded type on his Newmarket debut and looks sure to take plenty of beating granted normal improvement. Magistretti was a comfortable Sandown maiden winner but had his limitations exposed in Listed company next time. Alkaased, a Kingmambo colt from the same family as San Sebastion, and Soyuz, a half-brother to useful winners, both hold big-race engagements and are newcomers who are worth noting in the market.
