In depth

Verdict

Several of these ran in the Great Voltigeur at York. The Mediterranean fared best, keeping on well after setting a scorching gallop, but it would be no surprise if third and fourth Youth Spirit and Sir Lucan turned the tables here if Wayne Lordan is again tasked with setting the fractions. The latter may prove the best of Aidan O’Brien’s quartet having been set plenty to do on the Knavesmire, though Frankie switches to High Definition even though he was only sixth at York and also behind Scope. HURRICANE LANE (NAP) had excuses when suffering the only defeat of his career so far in the Epsom Derby. He readily reversed that form with Mojo Star in the Irish Derby and has since won the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp. Ottoman Emperor beat Sir Lucan in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood but it will take something special to thwart the Godolphin colt.
