In depth
Verdict
A difficult race to start the day, with the weights headed by Lucayan Dancer, who will have to put behind him a poor effort at Newcastle if he is to be involved in the finish. He could well be flattered by his handicap mark. Logsdail is progressing well and should do better still over this sort of trip, as there is plenty of stamina on his mother's side, while Mysterinch has certainly found his feet since stepping up to this trip. He should again take care of Go Tech and Fellow Ship on these terms, but with Pat Eddery taking over from an apprentice on the former, there may not be that much between them. The Handicapper looks to have done Jacaranda no favours, while Nuit Sombre will have to find improvement for the step up in trip. Pure Speculation is open to improvement at this trip and doesn't look badly in off a mark of 76, but this looks set to go to Sir Mark Prescott's Cranshaws, who proved well suited by the stiff mile at Newmarket. He still looks well treated off only a 3lb higher mark and can prove too strong for his rivals.
