In depth

Verdict

From a shortlist of Amanda Carter, Blue Jet and Hits Only Vic, the selection is Hits Only Vic. A winner last time out over a mile and a half, he was staying on well to land the spoils in a competitive small field at Ripon recently. He certainly seems to be progressive, and will be happy with the going. Amanda Carter has won when coming off the pace so may let another make the running here. A three time winner, including here last month, her successes have all come over shorter trips, so there may be concern about whether she'll stay this distance. Drawn one may help, although the advantage is minimal. Blue Jet shouldn't find problems with the trip, staying on strongly for a third at Haydock last month on good ground. Regularly knocking on the door, but nearly a year since winning. For the lucky last though, the pick is Hits Only Vic.
