Verdict
Winthorpe got up close home when landing a handicap at Thirsk last week and John Quinn's gelding has to be respected off just a 3lb higher mark today but preference is for Rainbow Fox, with Cornus rated the pick of the remainder. The selection did not appreciate the soft ground on his reappearance at Thirsk and ran much better when back on a faster surface at Hamilton subsequently when chasing home Cheery Cat. A 2lb rise for that effort is perfectly fair and Richard Fahey's gelding is taken to go one better this evening. Kevin Ryan's He's A Humbug has disappointed in both starts this term and may need some more help from the handicapper, while Financial Times is probably better on the Polytrack than on turf. Alan McCabe's Cornus is a consistent performer and should again go well but Rainbow Fox has solid claims and he is preferred.
