Verdict
Sheriff's Deputy and Tagula Blue both found one too good last time and deserve to win a race of this nature but may again have to settle for minor honours with Crail given the vote to supplement his last time out course and distance success. Admittedly Chris Wall's gelding was all out to win that maiden and was sent off at 25/1 but there was plenty to like about the way that he knuckled down to the battle. Having been off the track for the best part of three months prior to that success, the son of Vettori is entitled to have improved further for the run and he gets the vote to follow up. Tagula Blue has been raised 2lbs for his second to Lilli Marlane at Nottingham last time and James Unett¿s Sheriff¿s Deputy, who can race off the same mark as when second on his last two starts, holds more solid claims. Tree Peony disappointed at Haydock last time and probably did not show her true running that day. Tusk and Bollin Jeannie are others to consider but we are happy to side with Crail, who may be well treated for his handicap debut.
