In depth

Verdict

Things clearly haven't gone to plan with Synergise and having realised a cool 100,000 guineas as a yearling, he makes a belated track debut for Roger Varian having already been gelded. Country Drive has a belated seasonal reappearance and Ed Dunlop's filly certainly caught the eye in a maiden at Newbury last term, but the match fitness of BOLD SPIRIT will count for plenty and we will side with him here. Richard Hannon's gelding was disappointing at Kempton last month though the form of his second at Windsor given a boost by the winner earlier this week, and on that evidence, it will require a smart performance to beat him tonight. Mad Endeavour was turned over in a weak Chepstow maiden but he's Stuart Kittow's only runner at the meeting and with Paul Hanagan booked, connections evidently fancy their chances of an upset.
