Verdict

Typewriter ended last season with a victory at Nottingham but is 5lb higher while Base Note bids for a hat-trick raised 7lb having landed a double on the all-weather last month. Goodwood winner War Horse and Outbreak make more appeal than Thunder Max and Merlin's Lady of the handicap debutants returning to action but GRAND ALLIANCE has a recent victory at Chelmsford under his belt. Charlie Fellowes’ charge won more cosily than the winning margin suggests and looks worth sticking with.
