Verdict
Pat Smullen has a strong book of rides tonight including Carried, who found a mile too short last time and is only 3lb higher than his victory over track and trip in October. Nimitz had been threatening to lose his maiden tag before doing so last month though he was over 3l behind California Lad in December. The winner has since completed a double though he's gone up 8lb for his latest success so this looks tougher. ALCANDER is better over 1m4f but looked like winning when taking the lead at this trip last week only to be run out of it in the closing stages. There should be a good gallop here and his stamina can win the day. Pari Passu's victory earlier this month was over a mile and he's never been this far.
