Verdict

KINGS SHIELD ran well enough with threatening to win in the French 2000 Guineas at Longchamp last time. This is easier and John Gosden’s colt looks the one to beat. Rufus King makes a quick reappearance on the back of last week’s fifth at York and is weighted to beat stablemate Lake Volta while Tadbir was beaten in novice company last time and Arrogant looks outclassed in this company. Aurum came up short in a Listed race at Newmarket but has plenty of scope for further improvement and Charlie Appleby’s charge may prove the main danger.
