Verdict
A top and competitive handicap opens Epsom's card on Derby day and we hope to get off to a good start with MARCHING TIME, who is taken to win this ahead of Union Island and Dubai Crest. The pick looked a progressive type last season before being a little outclassed in the Group One Racing Post Trophy on his last appearance of that campaign. He shaped well and proved his stamina for this trip on his seasonal reappearance in a similar race at York last time out and with more expected again he should run a big race off the same mark. Union Island has done very little wrong in six starts so far including winning on his penultimate effort in a decent maiden. Kevin Ryan's charge was then only just beaten in a similar race to this next time up and although up three pounds for that display he should be close at the business end of the race. Dubai Crest stepped up to this class last time out to narrowly miss out in small field. The form of that race has been franked by the well held third since so this one also looks good to challenge off a competitive mark. John Gosden's yard are flying at the moment so we have to respect the chances of the progressive London Bridge but his rating is difficult to assess on his handicap bow so in a really tricky start for punters the safest option appears to be Marching Time.
