Verdict
Call My Number can give in-form Mick Channon another winner, with Phluke, Yo Pedro, Lord Of The East and Marmooq all making for a close-knit contest. With such a big field over the seven furlongs, an amount of luck will be needed in running for those that like to come from behind, but hopefully Call My Number, who can get out quickly when he wants to, will gain an early position from stall two to gain a second career success. The son of Grand Lodge opened his account on fast ground at Beverley last June, and has been lightly-raced since, with his best effort being a short-head defeat to subsequent Royal Ascot winner Sir Gerard, also at Beverley in April. The three-year-old will surely be placed to land a big handicap, and this race fits the bill, as conditions are very much in his favour. Main rivals such as Phluke and Yo Pedro have high draws to worry about, but both have shown enough to suggest that they can take a hand in the finish, while Lord Of The East has been successful here in the past, and Catwick handler Ian McInnes places his travellers to good effect. Mark Johnston has his team in top shape, so the relatively lightly-raced Marmooq should not be discounted, but last year's winner Quantum Leap has it to do from stall 16. An open handicap can go to Call My Number.
