Verdict
Bay Willow is an obvious newcomer however LOUISIANA GIFT looks like a potential improver and is selected ahead of Quick Reaction and Tesslam. John Hills' son of Cadeaux Genereux was midfield in three all-weather maidens in the autumn but he looks the type to do well in this second season. He is a half-brother to Scottish Affair and with this longer trip very much in his favour he looks sure to run well. Stablemate Pebblesonthebeach is better than he was able to show on his final start as a juvenile as he suffered trouble in running, Lago Indiano represents a yard in fair form but has stamina questions to answer, whilst Quick Reaction and Tesslam set the standard with official ratings of 77 and 78 respectively. The former represents a yard in terrific form and his fifth to Coordinated Cut is good form, whilst the latter has a mixed pedigree of speed and stamina and needs to prove that this trip is within range. Newcomer Bay Willow completes the field and this 115,000 guineas purchase is out of a dam who was a mile winner at three so he should be starting off over a suitable trip. The market should help guide here, but preference is for Louisiana Gift.
